After finding out what's really in store-bought ranch dressing, you might be devastated. All of the preservatives, hydrogenated oils, and artificial flavorings wreak havoc on the body. Never fear, you don't have to sacrifice that flavor combo on your salad greens and carrot sticks. We've hacked this prized condiment so now you can grow the ingredients and make it yourself. No harmful preservatives here. You'll never look back to the grocery store shelf (only to your Herbs Seedsheet).
Start by harvesting parsley, dill and chives from your Seedsheet. These can be hung to dry in a paper bag (to keep light out) for several days or set in a dehydrator on a low setting for about 3-6 hours (until brittle and bone-dry). Next, assemble the ranch dip mix.
- 4 T dried parsley leaves
- 1 Tbsp dried dill leaves
- 2 tsp dried chives
- 1 Tbsp garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp onion powder
- 1 Tbsp dry onion flakes
- 2 tsp ground pepper
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/2 cup milk
- Combine all dry ingredients and store in an airtight container. This can be used to season any dish (chicken, fish, pasta, etc) for a savory seasoning.
- To make ranch dip, combine 2 spoonfuls of this dry mixture with yogurt and milk of choice. Substitute buttermilk for milk if desired for more of a tangy flavor.
- Use as you wish (guilt-free) on salads, carrot sticks, or roasted chicken!
